Message regarding Winter Sports January 22, 2021

Hello BCS Winter Athletes and Parents,

Last week, the CIAC Board of Control, under the State Department of Health (DPH) guidance, approved the start of winter athletics for low and moderate risk sports.  Bolton Center School will be offering Boys & Girls Basketball.  The CIAC is permitting practices to begin on January 19, with games starting on February 8.

Given the short notice, Bolton Center School delayed the start of the winter sports season and will start tryouts/practices for boys & girls basketball the week of January 25.  Please see the attached BCS Practice Schedule since only one basketball team will practice after school.  Practice days will rotate weekly so that each team gets an equal amount of gym time.  Athletes/teams not scheduled to practice will go home at dismissal time.

Basketball practice times will be 2:45 – 5:00 PM, and parents should be at BCS before 5:00 PM to pick-up their athlete.

This year the girl's basketball team will be coached by Rich Nietupski, and Alexandra Goslin will coach the boy's team.

Also attached is the BCS Winter Sports Plan, which details all the guidelines and protocols for the winter season.

The Bolton Center School, Athletic Participation Fee, will be reduced to $25.00/athlete (originally $75) for the winter season for basketball.  Please forward this amount to Bolton Center School, attention to Athletics, at your earliest convenience.

Please note, when practices begin, all athletes should be wearing appropriate clothing for their sport as locker rooms will not be available.  Athletes must also wear a face mask that covers both the mouth and nose.  Athletes should bring an extra mask with them if the mask they are wearing needs replacing due to a broken strap or excessive sweat and moisture.

There is a zero-tolerance policy regarding wearing a face mask/covering.  If your athlete can not wear his/her face mask/covering correctly (over nose and mouth), they will be asked to leave practice/game and not return to the team.
